Salamanca's New Cathedral Salamanca's New Cathedral is not really all that new. It dates from the early 16th century and was constructed (at least in part) to hold up the older existing Cathedral, which was then deteriorating and in danger of falling down. It is built in late Gothic style, with multiple entrance points and elaborate stone carvings inside and out. Amusingly a stone carving has been added to the buildings exterior in recent times which depicts an astronaut. Other notable features include it's impressive plateresc organ, and detailed dome. It is also the only point of entry to the Old Cathedral of Salamanca.
