Firstly it is located in close proximity to two international airports; Barcelona Airport (BCN), which is Spain's second ranked airport in terms of passenger traffic & amongst the ten busiest in Europe, & Reus Airport (REU) offering yet more flight options & closer proximity to the Costa's main resorts. This is mainly from an accessibility point of view, but also because it offers a greater choice of accommodation than any other town on the Costa Dorada. As the Costa's most popular resort it is also home to the highest level of commercial infrastructure; from yacht clubs, diving centres, adventure tourism agencies, golf clubs, & much more. Just outside Salou is the (Universal Studios owned) Universal Mediterranea complex; home to the Port Aventura theme park, Caribe Aquatic park & many other attractions. As mentioned above one of Salou's big draws is its diversity, & this is carried through to the accommodation on offer.
