San Agustin - Gran Canaria The resort of San Agustin is a brilliant place to stay if you are looking for quite and relaxation! Smaller than its neighbouring resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas and not as well known with the tourist it truly is an exquisite place to stay! Nightlife in San Augustin is quieter and much more couple and family orientated! Here you will find more traditional Canarian restaurants and lovely Seafood restaurants...You will also be able to take in a show here or maybe try your hand in the towns Casino! If you are looking to paint the town red, you will have to go into the neighbouring resorts of Playa del Ingles or Maspalomas where in true Spanish style once the sun goes down the restaurant, bars and nightclubs come alive!! If you like the hip-swaying salsa music, Live bands, Cover bands, jazz, or anything else then you will find it here! Irish bars and English bars galore!! Head for Kasbah, Playa del Ingles where you can take your pick of hundreds of bars, disco pubs and nightclubs. There are gay bars and clubs, cocktail bars, Irish bars, sports bars, café bars with live music and almost every other kind of bar imaginable. Two of the more popular clubs in town are Joy, here it plays pop and commercial music, and Cream, here it plays more hardcore dance music. San Augustin is the first beach along the southeast coast, and not as well known as its neighbouring beaches therefore it is a lot less lively and has a quieter and more relaxing atmosphere! The beach is some 700 metres long, the sand is a little darker than Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles, it is on a slight slope and well protected from the waves also which makes it excellent conditions for those who would like to go snorkeling or diving! There are some beautiful sea-food restaurants along the front here too. If you are planning or looking for more of an active holiday there are plenty of places for you to visit and things to do in and surrounding San Agustin, Gran Canaria! Including the Water parks, of which there are three all located in the south of the Island and close by to the resort, Aquasur, Ocean Park and Aqua Park. There is also theme and amusement parks, which include; Palmitos Park which is a subtropical oasis and Zoo, Sioux City, Holiday World which is a leisure and amusement park and Mundo Aborigen Located overlooking the Barranco de Fataga, which is the biggest and most dramatic gorge on the island, The Mundo Aborigen is a reconstruction of an ancient Canary village devoted entirely to the Guanche way of life. Sioux City, located in Canon del Aguila in San Agustin - Is a replica of a American wild west town covering over 320,000 sq metres you will find many wonderful attractions including, gunfights, rustic barbecues, saloon gals, sheriffs and can-can girls, 'duel until death', 'bank robbery', 'saloon fight', 'town square hanging', 'Indian rain dance' and Mexican acrobats performing stunts involving lassos, whips and knives&ldots; to name but a few! Of course where you find Cowboys you will find Indians and Sioux City is no exception in the park you will also find an Indian reservation. For the kiddies if everything else isn't already enough you will find a small zoo too! It really is a great fun day out for all! Sioux City is open all year round, Tuesday to Sunday (Closed Mondays) from 10am till 5pm! Other Tourist Attractions on the island of Gran Canaria include Museums, Monuments and Historical Architectural buildings that are extremely impressive , Churches, Botanical Gardens, more theme parks and lots lots more! There is also water sports and Whale and Dolphin excursions like many of the other Canary Islands! When visiting Gran Canaria it is a must to go exploring the island you will see many wonderful views and scenery, in the mountains, forests, coastal and spectacular beaches or sand dunes! These are all easily accessible from San Agustin, whether you hire a car and explore in your own private group or perhaps take an excursion, which you can organise through a tour operator or it is easy to find a company that does this in the centre of the resort. There are plenty of Apartments to rent for your holiday, in San Agustin whether you want a basic apartment just to lay your head a night or luxurious with an abundance of facilities! They range in size from studio's or one bedroom apartments if there are just the two of you to three bedroom - normally sleeping up 8 if your taking the family or going in a big group. There's also the private rentals, Villas and Apartments, that people have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there rent out for your exclusive use! These are lovely, normally set in privately owned complexes, where people live! Most come with communal swimming pools too, and these are normally quieter due to this. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!! Prices range from 30 per day for a Studio in San Augustin upwards. They will do deals for the longer you have it, it becomes cheaper per day! But generally you are looking from 150 per week for a Studio rental and prices go compared to size and location.
