San Rafael Monument Cordoba's most important monument to San Rafael (the town's patron saint) is located in the vicinity of both the Mesquita and the city's triumphal archway. It takes the form of a statue looking out across the city from atop a column, itself perched on a statue of a castle on a mountain adorned with religious images. The monument is in the style of other similar European examples; such as Nelson's Column in London or the Christopher Columbus monument in Barcelona.
