Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue The Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue in Toledo dates back to the year 1180AD. Of Mudejar design it is an impressive testament to Toledo's prosperous Jewish community and the city's cultural diverseness. It's interior is dominated by horseshoe shaped arches supported by octagonal stone columns, white walls, and decorative plaster-work. Due to the time of it's construction the building most resembles a mosque, though it was the city's main synagogue for many years before being turned into a place for Christian worship in the 15th century. As such there are also Plateresc altars featuring.
