Santander Culture Santander is an attractrive city with a pleasant town centre and a nice historic quarter; complete with grand buildings, squares, and gardens. Santander's most famous construct is it's Magdaleda Palace, once used by the Spanish royal family as a summer residence. The performing arts are very popular in Santander, and the Santander International Festival in August is testament to this. During this month both the classical and musical arts are celebrated throughout the city though centering around the impressive Palacio de Festivales (Festival Palace Concert Hall).
