Santander Tourist / Tourism The city of Santander is an elegant coastal city with a nice historic quarter; complete with grand buildings, squares, and gardens. It is also very much a working city with a thriving commercial port; which incidentally offers ferry crossing options to and from many European destinations. Santander's most famous attraction is it's Magdaleda Palace, once used by the Spanish royal family as a summer residence. A favorite time to visit the city is during the month of August, when the city celebrates the classical and musical arts in the form of the Santander International Festival.
