Seville Culture The city of Seville is one of Europe's most magnificent destinations; packed with historic sights and cultural attractions, though an equally great place to come to relax and dine in an attractive setting. Seville played an important part in the discovery and conquest of the America's. It was therefore the first stop for the resulting treasures, and this is evident all around in the quantity, richness, and splendor of it's cultural attractions. Architectural splendour is evident throughout Seville's city centre, with many beautiful medieval constructs mixed in with more recents works; many of which were erected for the Seville 1929 Expo. Three city buildings have made it onto the UNESCO world heritage list (Seville Cathedral, Royal Palace, and the Indian Archives), and due to it's past the city can offer the visitor something quite unique. Seville's art scene includes plenty of masterpeices and paintings by famous artists which are displayed in the city's galleries and museums. It's museums are also some of Spain's best for those intested in anything Roman (especially the Museum of Archaeology), due to the importance of the Italica Roman Ruins just outside the city. The performing arts are also popular in Seville, and a host of classical music, theatre, opera, and dance events are usually running. There are numerous venues dotted around Seville with the oldest being the Lope de Vega Theatre; a neo-baroque style building in the centre of Seville.
