Sierra Nevada Holidays The Sierra Nevada is great place to spend your holidays, whether visiting in the summer or the winter months. Malaga International Airport (AGP) offers air connections with most major European cities, & the resident Granada Airport offers more in the way of national routes. Sierra Nevada is also well placed for travel via the excellent regional road network; this is mainly from an accessibility point of view, as there are many sights, city break destinations, & natural attractions within easy reach of here. The Sierra Nevada is perhaps best known for its ski resort (Sol y Nieve) which is just 20 minutes drive from central Granada. The resort boasts over 61 kilometres of slope spread across 39 runs, & 6 sensational off-course trails. If visiting during warmer months a trip to the nature reserve, measuring a total of 86,208 hectares, is a worthwhile expedition. There are two main visitor centres located at the eastern & western ends of the reserve. They offer various activities including exhibitions on the parks flora & fauna, hiking, cycling (with bike hire), horse-riding, & paragliding. Guidebooks & maps of the park are available for sale, as are locally produced goods (hams, cheeses etc.) at the in-house shop, & coffee/snacks at the cafeteria. There are a multitude of good quality & affordable options on hotels & other rental properties in the Sierra Nevada; these cater for high-end to budget travel requirements.
