Club Deportivo Tenerife is Tenerife's football club, known as the blanquiazules (the blue and whites) to many! The home ground, Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez based in the capital Santa Cruz.
They were the UEFA cup semi-finalist in 1996-97 however today they are the Segunda Division and are running 8th in the league.
If you would like to see a match whilst holidaying there then it is relatively easy to do so, there are plenty of buses that go from the main holiday resorts to Santa Cruz near the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium. The Stadium has a capacity of 22,500 spectators although attendance is generally less so there is almost always seats available! Being a distance from Mainland Spain very few supporters of other teams come here so there is rarely trouble.
Tickets start from €9 for adults and €3 for children which you can buy at the ticket office to right of the monument in the new part of the stadium. However this has a variety of opening times, to book in advance check out the Supporters Armarda Sur - the Southern Army!! website or call the club details below. Going with the supporters club is the most popular way for tourists, you go in a coach from the South of the island resorts, Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas. This way makes it simpler for you to get there and get you in amongst the atmosphere!
Going to watch Club Deportivo Tenerife play, even if you not into football is a great day out for all!! There are plenty of souvenir stalls at the front of the stadium on match days so you can show you full support and get a blue and white flag or t-shirt!!
