Tenerife Gardens There is enormous variety of plant life on the island of Tenerife, although the south is relatively dry and barren. Many people that visit the island take advantage of the many excursions that are organised to take in the immense Flora and Fauna! This means the Plant species and the animal species. Tenerife's Botanical Garden in Puerto de la Cruz is an excellent day out! Definitely worth a visit, its the most fantastic Garden on the Island. Designed to promote knowledge and respect for the environment, the Jardin Botanico is a protective oasis containing some of the most diverse and exotic plant life on the planet. Address: Jardines botnicos Puerto De La Cruz Tenerife Parque Exoticos, the Cactus and Animal Park is another botanical garden in Los Cristianos. It specialises in cacti and plant life from the more barren and dry regions. The animal park has a variety of species from marmosets to terrapins. Next to it is the Amazonia, tropical rain forest over 7000 square feet!! Exotic birds fly freely here, There is a whole host of other game birds, parrots and reptiles. I would highly recommend this park also, especially if you have children as the animals will keep them entertained!! Don't worry if you have not rented a car there is a free bus leaving from the resort of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. The excursion includes commentary by an English speaking guide and lasts for around an hour. There is a model of Tenerife amongst the banana plantation, explaining the water system. There is also a small shop here that sells banana related products and a cafe in case you get hungry! By the time you leave you will be banana'd out!!!
