The old town of La Orotava in the North of Tenerife has a population of over thirty six thousand, lies on the banana plantation in the valley Orotava! With it's 1,000 hectares of vineyards cultivated in this ample valley of extraordinary beauty that stands at the foot of Mount Teide and it extends until the sea with great shades of diverse land.

There are three beaches here all of which have dark sand, El Bollulllo, Martín Alonso and El Rincón, they are rarely crowded and beautiful.
The centre of La Orotava is old and historical with magnificent architecture, It is declared of monumental and artistic interest and well worth a visit if you are not staying here!

The La Hijuela del Botánico, which is a botanical garden is based in the town. With over 3,000 different tropical and sub-tropical vegetable species mainly of South and Central American, African and Australian origin. There is also the Victorian Garden - Jardin Victoria, in the city centre which is a recreational green. It has lots of walking paths which are among trees and flowers, the famous Carrara Marble Mausoleum designed by the French architect Adolph Coquet in 1882 is here.
The San Andres Fiesta, which is a wine tasting festival in November taking place in a lot of Tenerife towns, La Orotava being one of them.
There are many other places to visit in Tenerife and you can hire a car to get around easily to them or perhaps take a excursion to many of them. There is always plenty to see and do!
There are many beautiful hotels and apartments to rent in La Orotava, ranging from self catering to full board, 3* up to 5*! you can look up on the hotels page to see what's available. Most nightlife is hotel based although there are a few bars and restaurants and shops. If you want a a little livelier then you should pop into the main resort of Puerto de la Cruz, which isn't far away.
