There are plenty of places that do Whale watching in Tenerife all either at Playas de las Americas, Los Cristianos and Los Gigantes. Many leave from Puerto Colon (Port Columbus), Playa de las Americas, this is a lovely beach and worth a visit either before or after you Whale watching adventure!!
You have a choice to go on a cruise on glass bottom boats, yachts, catamaran yacht and motor boats. Everyone from 3 years old onwards enjoys this wonderful experience!! They are all a safe way of travelling and are licensed.
Almost definitely you will see the pilot whales as they live just off Playas de las Americas if you take one of the cruises to Los Gigantes you will have more of a chance to see the bottlenose dolphins also! It is more of a 'fifty fifty' chance as these beautiful creatures are roaming animals! But they are often spotted in this part of this ocean as you will be cruising the same part that they do!! Fin and sperm whales have also been spotted off Playas de las Americas depending on the season. The whales more often then not won't just appear and then disappear, normally they will be about swimming and if your lucky you will even hear them speak!!! The dolphins if they appear will swim along side the boat and put on a real show if there in the mood too!!!
All of these excursion are in the South of Tenerife, where the sea is reliably calm! So you do not need your sea legs to be able to go on them! If the weather is that bad then the excursion will be cancelled. Everything goes into these trips to make sure that you will fully enjoy and get the most out of them! Leaving Tenerife without going Whale (and hopefully dolphin) watching would be a real shame!
