Tobacco Factory The Real Fabrica de Tabacos (Seville's Tabaco factory) is an 18th century creation constructed over 50 years. In it's heyday it was the largest industrial building in Europe, with it's own moat, chapel, and jail, as well as courtyards and fountains. Thousands of workers toiled here, many of them women. The factory building was made world famous by the opera Carmen by Bizet, which tells the story of the life of a cigar girl who worked in the factory.
