Torrevieja Shopping, where do you start? With over 2,500 shops and commercial premises, there is something for everybody. Fashion, perfume, electrial goods, leather and shoes, plus of course restaurants can be found around the town centre (The Plaza De Izabel II), just 100m back from the promenade / marina, and all the surrounding streets. Its a bit of a maze, but they are there somewhere! Although there are some furniture shops in town most are scattered around the outskirts in large stores, along with everything for interior design, bathroom, kitchens etc.

This can be frustrating for the UK citizen, used to everything being open most of the time. Most open at 10am, then close for lunch between 1.30pm and 5.30pm, re-opening until 8, 9, or even 10pm! Although the big supermarkets and major shops have started opening all day, even some on sundays, especially in august. For those who like BIG shops try the Carrefour, it sells everthing from electrical goods, tvs, computers etc, to all the food you could think of, although it is short of "english" brands (you can usually get these from the small local supermarkets.
Torrevieja Bank opening times
Most of the banks open 9am until 2pm, monday to friday only. I do not know of any bank (or shop / restaurant) that accepts travellers cheques, so don't bother to ring them. This really is a cash economy. There are plenty of cash machines (ATMs) around, all the banks have them, which is good because the queues in the banks can be horrendous sometimes.
There are all the usual brands to be found from the designer perfumes to nike, addidas trainers, tee shirts, even a McDonalds, KFC and Burger King for those of you who cannot go a couple of weeks without your fix!
A few "shopping Centres" are under construction, so over the next couple of years everything may be easier to find.
