Villas of Benicassim Benicassim is distinguished from other towns on the Costa del Azahar due to its high number of manorial style villas. When the railway line was built at the end of the 19th century the wealthy classes of Valencia chose the town as a popular site to build summer retreats. The villas are built in varying styles, from Victorian, to classical, and modern. Benicassim has largely managed to retain this upmarket image and so remains a favourite haunt for Spain's more affluent crowd.
