Zaragoza Fiestas As a city of great standing and tradition Zaragoza plays host to a variety of fiestas (festivals). There are many fiestas throughout its calendar, some larger than others., below we list some of the most popular events.
Easter week has been celebrated in Zaragoza since the 13th century and has been declared of touristic interest. The streets vibrate to the sound of drums beating with over 15,000 member of 23 brotherhoods taking part. Several large processions take place during the week (the largest on good friday) with an attendance of over a hundred thousand people. Spring in Zaragoza is a good time for children with a multitude of child friendly open air activities held for their entertainment in the citys many parks and recreation areas. these include musical and theatrical performances, sporting events, and more. The weekend closest to the 24th of June hosts the celebration of St. John (San Juan) which marks the summer solstice with a variety of attractions including street dancing, concerts, and the more traditional bonfires.
