Granada, Andalucia, Spain
The Alcazaba is the fortified military complex at the Alhambra. Its beginnings were constructed under the authority of the Caliphate of Cordoba, & extended further in the 11th century when Granada was made capital of its Taifa (small kingdom). But the main constructs were of course made under Nasrid rule, when the kingdom of Granada was the last Islamic state in Europe, constantly harried by supporters of the Christian faith.
The Alcazaba is a reasonably large structure. It boasts many watchtowers that look out across the surrounding land as far as the eye can see.
