Gandia, Spain, Europe
Property and Tourist Information
The coastal town of Gandia is situated on the southern portion of the Costa del Azahar and has a population of over 60,000 people. During the summer months it swells with an influx of (mainly Spanish) tourists, who come to enjoy the sandy beaches and seafood restaurants that are found here. The town itself consists mainly of a sprawl of privately owned apartment blocks, however it is the atmosphere and charm of Gandia that really lends itself to the visitor. There are of course some attractions worth visiting such as the Palace of Santo Duque (or Palacio de Santo Duque), declared a national monument it can be found at one end of the old town center. There are also some old churches and the former university building is noteworthy.
Gandia still boasts a fully functioning fishing harbour, with a small fleet of boats bringing in the catch of the day to the town restaurants and their expectant diners. There are many good quality restaurants in Gandia serving affordable fare, alongside higher end alternatives.
Perched on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea Gandia boasts sandy beaches aplenty, and they stretch for over 11 kilometres. They are generally well maintained and its Nord beach consistently win the European blue flag for cleanliness and the clarity of its waters.
Gandia is also well known for its mild climate and enjoys sunshine for in excess of 300 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 17°C.
