Granada draws crowds from all over the world, & is the regions most visited single destination. Visitors come to see the remnants of the once mighty Moorish empire, the many famous monuments, & to savour in the ambience, cuisine, & other delights of this beautiful city. It is one of Spain's leading university cities with a large student populace, meaning that its nightlife is both a varied & vibrant affair. It is also the most symbolic site of Catholic Spain's struggle with the Moors (Spain's Islamic rulers for many hundreds of years). Indeed Granada was the capital of the last Muslim state on the Iberian peninsular; Al-Andaluz. The result is a heritage unique from that of other European cities.
Granada has a very developed tourist trade resulting in a wide range of accommodation options. Granada Weather is different from that of other towns within the province as Granada is high above sea level. Its summers are pretty similar to that of the rest of southern Spain with average highs of 30°C (86°F), though in the coldest months Granada sees temperatures plummet as far as freezing point.
