The Palma de Mallorca Airport is a small airport located just outisde of Palma the capital of the island.

The Arrivals lounge is the first thing that you will come to when arriving at Mallorca. If you disembark the aircraft via a tunnel, you must follow the signs along the corridors until you arrive at the terminal's arrivals floor where you can collect your luggage. If the aircraft has been parked some distance from the terminal, a bus will pick you up and take you to the arrivals floor, here, you will find the usual Customs, then the baggage reclaim carousels, to locate your luggage you can consult the monitors that are placed at the entrance of the lounge and they will tell which conveyor belt your luggage will appear! The Arrivals lounge is located on the ground floor of the passenger terminal and although small, there are sixteen carousels. Conveyor belts 8 and 9 are reserved for non-Schengen flights. Oversized luggage is also collected from these conveyor belts. For further information, you should contact the airline counter in question in the baggage reclaim area. If a passenger has to pass through Customs, then your luggage will be delivered by conveyor belts 8 or 9. Then you will go through to the Arrivals Hall! Here are either the tour operators or people who have come to the airport to meet relatives or friends from a flight can obtain information on the arrival hall via the monitors located in the terminal lobbies. Its is relatively is and stress free to get through.

Sadly Departures is the next thing you will come to, The check-in desks are situated, from left to right, according to zone (A, B, C, D, E, F) and number (1 to 204). If you are arriving at the airport by bus or taxi are dropped off on the check-in floor. The offices of the various airlines, tour operators and travel agencies are located on this floor. Information about check-in desks for flights can be obtained from any of these offices, as well as from the information screens and the airport information desks. If you are arriving at the airport by private car may access the check-in area by continuing straight ahead to the terminal or via the car park on the left. Having parked your car, you should proceed to the fourth floor of the car park, continue through the tunnel to the terminal building and then go down to the second floor (check-in).

At the check-in desk, you should produce your tickets and hand over your luggage. The airline staff will then issue boarding passes indicating the seat number allocated on the aeroplane, the boarding time and the gate. If you are flying with Spanair or Iberia who only have hand luggage you may also obtain your boarding passes from the automatic dispenser machines of these companies located on the same floor.

Passengers arriving at Palma from a Mediterranean cruise may check in their luggage at the port of Palma. This means that prior to travelling to the airport for their flight, they can enjoy the city of Palma unburdened by suitcases and already in possession of their boarding passes. Check-in of bulky luggage: If you have bulky luggage to check-in i.e; bicycles, surf boards and other large items should do so at the check-in desk appropriate to their airline and flight. The member of staff on duty will then accompany them to the bulky luggage desk and deposit the merchandise there. Once passengers have collected their boarding passes, they should proceed to the fourth floor (departures), go through the security checkpoint and make their way to the appropriate boarding gate.

Airport Facilities

There are a few cash machines dotted in various places around the building as well as a full service bank on the departure floor.

You will find a 24 hour bar and cafeteria at the airport, which is comforting to know if you're travelling at an awfull hour. There is also plenty of other bars and restaurants to choose from if you are travelling at a more reasonable time.

There is also a tobacconist at the airport so you will be able to pick up your cigarettes if you didn't get time to pick some up while you were on holiday. There is also a wide variety of shops at the airport, everything from your usual duty free, perfumerie, clothes, accessories, tourist souveniers, music and electrical goods, jewellers, toys, sport, pharmacy to travel goods!

You will find all the major car hire companies have offices in the arrivals lounge at the airport. So even if you don't bother to book the car before you'll go, you are likely to be able to find something when you arrive. Having said this, it is reccomended that you do pre book a car if you are travelling in the peak time, to avoid dissapointment.

Buses Run from the airport directly to the centre of Palma. Outside the check-in floor aswell as outside door D you will find the taxi ranks, If there isn't a taxi ready to take you to your destination straight away, you shouldn't have to wait too long. Its approximately 10-15 minutes drive to the centre of Palma by taxi. You will be also pleasantly surprised by the prices of taxis in Palma compared to the cost of a taxi journey in the UK.

There is a six floor car park situated at the airport for long and short stay. It has a capacity for over 5500 vehicles. There are plenty of disabled parking bays with escalators and lifts for wheelchair and disabled access. The fourth floor of the car park connects the car park into the terminal by a path taking you directly to the departure lounge.

In the unlikely event that you are unlucky enough to lose any of your possesions / luggage, there is a lost property facility which can be found on the ground floor. If you are not sure about where this is ask at any of the information desks, which are easy to find, around the airport, they will be able to help you further on this matter.

There are also VIP lounges and a board room available for use at the airport for the business users.
