There is attractions for everyone - whether you are vacating with family, friends, old or young you will find something to keep you amused in Lanzarote!! To get a real feel of Lanzarote you should make your way to some of the villages scattered over the island. In the north of the island of Lanzarote you will find Mirador del Rio. This tourist attraction was designed by the infamous Cesar Manrique, the modern eagle's eyrie offers breathtaking panoramic views over the neighboring island of La Graciosa. Moving slightly further to the south on the east coast, there is Los Jameos del Agua. This is situated inland. Here Manrique created a nightclub, bar / restaurant and underground auditorium in a system of volcanic caves. The narrow volcanic tubes connect a seawater lagoon in the central cave to the Atlantic Ocean so that you can notice the high and low tides. The crystal clear waters of the lagoon are home to the tiny blind albino crab that can only be found in the island of Lanzarote. Adjacent to Los Jameos del Agua is Casa de los Volcanes. Here you can learn about the nature of volcanic activity, the eruptions that have occurred on the Canary Islands and the other active volcanoes that are situated throughout the world. Opposite from Los Jameos del Agua are the Cueva de los Verdes - Green Caves. Similar to its neighbour to the east it is part of a system of caves that begins at the 609m high volcano - Monte Corona - and ends 7km away, 50m below the oceans surface. The caves are an attraction that is not to be missed and a tour of the caves are possible if accompanied by a guide that is familiar with the vast labyrinth of the caves.

Another creation that is by Cesar Manrique can be located in Guatiza.  This is the Jardin de Cactus - Cactus Garden - it is home to over 1,400 varieties of species of cactus among which there you will find examples of Manrique's lava sculptures. For tourists that have an interest in modern art and architecture a visit to Fundaciun Cesar Manrique is another must. Originally Manrique created this as his own house, unconventionally building above and below ground level. Although the above ground rooms look like any other house on the island, the underground rooms have been created from five volcanic bubbles. Manrique has shown that even in the most inhospitable surroundings it is possible to make something elegant and luxurious. You will also find in the Fundaciun an exhibition of pieces from Manrique's private collection!

Close by to Playa Blanca - is a main attraction of Lanzarote, that is the The National Park of Timanfaya, which is home to the once raging Montaoas del Fuego - Mountains of Fire, this park has been created over 52 square kilometers of volcanic landscape. Even to this today the whole area of the national park quietly bubbles away under the earths surface at temperatures ranging from 100 - 400 degrees Celsius. You can take a bus trip to the summit of the volcanoes, where you will be amazed at the unique surrounding landscape. This is strictly prohibited unless you take this trip.

These above, are just some of the many tourist attractions that can be visited arranged by excursion from Puerto del Carmen or found easily by Car!!!

As you can see there is plenty to do whatever kind of holiday you enjoy, Lanzarote has it for you, and if by chance you wish to leave the island for the day you can go across to the island of Lobos a small island that has smalls secluded beaches and just one restaurant to cater for everyone - you will find many surfers, windsurfers and kite surfers surrounding Lobo's coastline! Or You could go across to Lanzarote's neighbouring island - Fuerteventura and explore there for the day, the ferry ride is only 40 minutes from Playa Blanca to Corralejo, Fuerteventura's northern town.

Whatever your holiday - I am sure you'll have a fantastic time in Playa Blanca Lanzarote and never be stuck for anything to do!!!
