Puerto del Carmen has been transformed from once being a small seaside village dedicated to fishing, into one of the most popular tourist zones on the island. The beach avenue. Avenida de las Playas, the beach avenue, is the resort´s main road. Commercial premises, shops, restaurants, bars and night clubs line its entire length. There are over one hundred restaurants with food to suit every taste and every pocket from fast food to gourmet. Also a large variety of shops, boutiques and bazaars stocked with everything from duty free electronics to local arts and crafts and designer clothes, shoes or jewelry. A walk along this beautifully landscaped promenade enjoying the sea breeze whilst admiring the scenery is an absolute must.
Puerto del Carmen is the pulsating tourist centre for nightlife of the Island with two merging areas: the famous promenade packed with live music bars, pubs and discos to suit most tastes; and la Tiñosa which unfolds around the old fishermens port and it is soaked in a very special atmosphere. Bars and clubs offer a wide selection of live and recorded music ranging from rock and roll and jazz and the rhythms of salsa an rhumba to flamenco and Canarian folklore. A more restful evening can be spent in one of the many restaurants or pleasant hotel lounges and cocktail bars. Alternatively you can enjoy the calm tranquility and safe serenity of the warm nights of Puerto del Carmen by talking a leisurely stroll along the beach promenade.
Puerto del Carmen has peaceful beaches of long stretches of golden sand, bays, luxury and basic accommodation, the resort is only 10 minutes from Lanzarote airport, and is situated in the south central part of the island.
The weather in Puerto del Carmen and in Lanzarote is warm all year round. It is by far the least mountainous of the Canary Islands and has a great deal of flat land. Due to this it is below the level of warm air and humidity. Mostly this results to a dry climate and very little rain. The average temperature in the summer is 24 degrees Celsius and in the winter still only 17 degrees Celsius!

There also the private rentals, people that have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there rent out for your exclusive use! These are lovely, normally set in privately owned complexes, where people live! Most come with communal swimming pools too, and these are normally quieter due to this. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!!
