Vinaros, Costa del Azahar, Spain
Property and Tourist Information
Vinaros is the northernmost town on Spain's Costa del Azahar. It is well known as a summer holiday destination, receiving a high number of visitors each year who come to relax on its beaches and dine in its many restaurants. Vinaros has a long history and as such can also offer a variety of interesting sights and attractions which amongst others include religious buildings and fortifications.
There has been an important port in Vinaros for many years. This has led the to prosperity and growth for the town, in the past this came in the shape of ship building and the export of wine to Europe and the American colonies. Today it receives only imports though it does play host to a reasonably sized fishing fleet feeding (mainly) the domestic market.
The tradition of fishing in Vinaros has bolstered the towns reputation as a good place to come to eat seafood and fish. The speciality here is the king prawn, and visitors will find it served in almost every restaurant in differing ways. Of course there are also numerous meat dishes to choose from here, as are international options.
Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea Vinaros boasts beaches aplenty. They are however a mixed bunch with as many sandy beaches as there are pebbled. The rocky seabed on this part of the coastline is widely considered to be ideal for snorkeling.
Vinaros is also well known for its mild climate and enjoys sunshine for in excess of 300 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with average highs hovering at around 16-17°C.
